Technical Information regarding the latest Sony tablets (S1 & S2)
Resource CNET, citing an anonymous source familiar with the plans of Sony on Android devices, provided additional details about the forthcoming Tablet S1 and S2 from Japanese companies, which are quite heavily to its design against competitive solutions.
It is reported that initially the S1 will be released in four cardboard models: 16 Gb version with Wi-Fi; 16-Gb with Wi-Fi and 3 g; 32 Gb only with Wi-Fi; and 32-Gb with Wi-Fi and 3 g. Interestingly, Tablet S2 will have only two choices – 16 Gb and 32 Gb, and both will be equipped with both Wi-Fi and 3 g. Those who require a large volume of data storage will that S1 receive full-size SD card slot.
The source also asserts that S1 will be equipped with a 9.4-inch IPS-technology-enabled screen TruBlack and Bravia. The exact time offline this apparatus is not reported, but indicated that it would be comparable to the iPad 2. Battery life is indicated as S2 tablet, but it can be assumed that it will be slightly lower because of the smaller sizes and the presence of two screens, requiring additional electronics.
For S1 is available, according to the source, several accessories, including dock and at least one Bluetooth keyboard. Top of the keyboard is described as slightly curved, possibly build it at the bottom of the S1 when the need for a physical keyboard.
Sony is expected to release tablets S1 and S2 right before IFA 2011 in Berlin (the largest exhibition of consumer electronics in Europe), which will be held from 2 to 7 September. Together with the launch of Sony will report and market names tablets, which, according to CNET, will be very similar to the aliases of S1 and S2.
Sony is positioning S1 as a Tablet for the home for several reasons, including interaction with the PS3 (DLNA and wireless game/data entry) and the previously announced fundraising functions infrared transmitter for digitizer to act as a remote control for televisions, Blu-ray players and other devices.
