Palm announced a new mobile phone its Palm Pixi Plus. It’s an upgraded version Palm’s most wanted Palm Pixi. Palm officially announced in 2010, March and the expected release date is 210, July.

The new Palm Pixi Plus comes with a Touchstone Back Cover for support for the Touchstone charging dock, sold separately. It packs 16 GB of storage for applications and media and the Plus features are included as along with 3D gaming support and the ability to turn the phone into a Wi-Fi hotspot.

Additionally, Palm announced a webOS app that allows the phone to become a personal mobile Wi-Fi hotspot for up to five Wi-Fi-enabled devices. (It’s a paid service that’s in addition to a data and voice plan.)

Here’s a rundown of the new features for the handsets:

The company also announced 3D gaming support from Electronic Arts, Gameloft and other developers. Games announced include:

Palm Pixi the black, shiny Pixi will come with a touch-screen, full QWERTY keyboard and Palm’s latest operating system, WebOS. It will also have 8 gigabytes of built-in memory. But while the Pre’s keyboard slides out from the bottom of the device, the Pixi’s slightly smaller screen and keyboard both fit on the face of the candy bar-style handset. The Pixi will sport a 2-megapixel camera, instead of its sibling’s 3-megapixel version, and two small speakers rather than the Pre’s single large one. Building on an already available WebOS feature, the Pixi will be able to gather users’ contacts from Yahoo and business-networking site LinkedIn. The Pixi will include standard smart phone features like Global Positioning System, video and music players and a Web browser, but it won’t have Wi-Fi. A dedicated Facebook application will be released with the Pixi, Palm said. It is not yet clear if it will come loaded on the phone or will be available through Palm’s online application store.
Palm Pixi will have Bluetooth and a removable battery. In terms of size it is expected to be 2.1 inches by 4.3 inches, it’s said to be less than half an inch thick and relatively light.
