Mobile phone virus

A mobile phone virus is similar to a computer virus. You all know what a computer does and what those viruses are capable of. A mobile phone virus is specially designed for it and it spreads from one vulnerable cell phone to another.

Viruses now-a-days are quite advanced than the initial periods of its history in cell phones. They can corrupt your important data or simply erase it, if it has infected your phone. The latest viruses are capable of sending fake messages or even spreading by itself through the mode of bluetooth. The current security risk has increased to a considerable level than it used to be 4-5 years back.

Today many smart phones or PDAs are in use, and users of these phones are regularly exchanging executable or other vulnerable files increasing the risk of being infected. The cellular industry takes the threat of viruses very seriously and is continually monitoring its networks and working to protect users from any future risk from new viruses.

How to protect your phone from viruses

1. Always keep your bluetooth switched-off unless required. Or it is preferable to keep your handset to hidden mode unless you need it to be visible.

2. If by chance you have forgotten to switch-off your bluetooth, remember not to open any bluetooth messages or files sent by a stranger or an unknown source. They are most likely viruses.

3. Only download content from trusted sources. Trusted sources include operator portals and other well-known websites that offer adequate protection against viruses.

4. Always install an anti-virus software in your phone. Do not forget to keep it updated as new viruses and threats always arise.

5. Never lend your memory card to anyone. It might get infected if the person to whom you have lent you MMC has infected his phone and he/she inserts your card in his phone. Also remember not to insert someone else’s MMC in your handset since there are chances of his MMC containing a virus or malware

Go to the main menu click phone setting then click Key guard setting and move the joystick downwards and enter code 12345 and select and press On option to turn off the same option press off and let it proceed

Call Locking

Go to the main menu click setting and Call setting after words then  move the joystick upward, click on (Send my Caller ID) option and then select off option in order to lock your calls If u want to remove this follow same procedure and you will be able to receive all calls normally .

How to Divert or De-activate Divert call?

Call Divert

If u want to divert your phone calls on another number go to Call setting and then select the divert call option then select type and active divert option. After that type the nowhere u want to divert your call or select no in contact list and then select Ok (Process Complete).

De-Activate Call Divert

If u want to De-active Call divert so repeat the process and select De-activate option.

Procedure to Set-up a Conference Call

If more than two people want to connect with one another at the same time with a same call. So make your call as a conference call.

Press the Hold (1), then Hold the join call, then presses the joystick towards the right click on the ADD CALL OPTION then the new companion will be visible. Then press the joy stick towards the right side and click on joint call option.

Method-1

If your cell p hone gets wet then follow these instructions: -

First of all remove the cell’s battery, then keep the cell phone outside in sunlight for 12 hours and submerge the cell for ten seconds in thinner of T20 that is put in the paint. Make sure to save the display. Then again keep it in sunlight for 12 more hours. Your cell will be functioning order.

The most important thing is to follow the procedure to avoid damages to the circuit board (PCB) of the cell phone as it is what an engine is to a car. Preventing damage to the PCB should be the main aim as you lose warranty on the handset due to water-logging and in such cases most of the service centers don’t provide a new circuit board and it is also not available in the open market.

Steps to repair and fix water damaged cell-phone:

- Remove the battery immediately and don’t just switch-off the handset. The removing of the battery is a must.

- Now dismantle your cell phone carefully. To open your cell phone you need a torx T6 size screw driver and a tweezers. Remember the steps how you opened the phone as you will have to assemble it later!

- Dry the green colored circuit board carefully and completely. Use a hair drier or you can also dry it in sunlight or on the top of a TV or a computer monitor.

- Dry the spare parts and components carefully. Be careful with the LCD as it is very delicate.

- Clean the circuit board with spirit using a brush. This prevents corrosion on the PCB.

Now re-assemble your phone carefully and if all goes well, your cell phone should switch on without any hassles. If it fails to switch on, charge your handset and try again. If it doesn’t switch on now, luck is not on your side. You will have to get your phone repaired at a service center.

Note: If you are scared or not sure how to open your cell phone and follow these steps, don’t go ahead to repair the phone yourself. You are more likely to damage the handset further. Just remove the battery and let a professional cell phone repair engineer do the needful.

Adding A New Infra Red Device To Tour PC

This procedure assumes that the infrared device is connected to a serial port on your computer. Use this procedure only if Windows did not automatically install an infrared device when you turned on your computer.

To add a new infrared device:
01. Click Start, point to Control Panel, and then click Add Hardware.
02. The Add Hardware Wizard starts.
03. Click Next.
04. Click Yes, I have already connected the hardware, and then click Next.
05. In the Installed hardware list, click Add a new hardware device, and then click Next.
06. Click Install the hardware that I manually select from a list (Advanced), and then click Next.
07. In the Common hardware types box, click Infrared devices, and then click Next.

Do one of the following:
01. If you do not have an installation disk for the infrared device, click the manufacturer of the device in the Manufacturer list, click the infrared device that best matches your hardware in the Infrared Device list, and then click Next.
02. If you have a manufacturer’s installation disk for a compatible driver, click Have Disk. Insert the manufacturer’s installation disk into the appropriate drive, and then click Next.
Follow the instructions that are displayed on the remaining pages of the Add Hardware Wizard to install the infrared device.

View the Properties of an Infrared Device
To use this procedure, there must be an infrared device installed on your computer. Note that the settings for the infrared device are configured automatically when you install the device, and typically do not have to be changed. To view the properties of an infrared device:
01. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Wireless Link.
02. Click the Hardware tab, click the infrared device for which you want to view properties, and then click Properties.

Configure a Serial Port for Infrared Communication
Your computer must support an infrared mode for a serial port. Use this procedure to install an IrDA transceiver that is provided by the computer manufacturer. To configure a serial port for infrared communication:
01. Start the BIOS configuration utility for your computer. Note that the method for starting the BIOS configuration utility varies from one computer to another. For many computers, you can start the BIOS configuration utility by pressing a function key that is indicated during the computer startup process. Some computers require that you start by using special configuration disks. For more information about how to enter BIOS Setup, see your computer manufacturer’s documentation.
02. In the peripheral or serial port configuration section, change the mode to IrDA or Infrared.

Troubleshooting
Installing an IrDA transceiver disables the serial port. Do not attach a serial IrDA transceiver to a serial port.

Backing up Phone Settings

when you need to hard format your phone or maybe upgrade to a new firmware, I’m sure definitely would like to save the current settings of your phone.

How to backup phone settings to MMC.
Menu>Extras>Memory>Options>Backup phone mem.
Once the formatting or upgrading is done, you can then restore back the settings by doing;

Restoring settings after phone format.
Menu>Extras>Memory>Options>Restore from card.

Send sms to any number via your pc with Nokia PC suite

Follow the steps to send the sms via your phone with the help of nokia pc suite

1. Install the Nokia PC suite from the CD which you got with your Nokia phone

2. After getting connected with Nokia PC suite via Bluetooth or through USB cable.

3. Open Nokia phone browser in My Computer

4. Click on the which has a tooltip as create a new text message in the vertical sidebar as shown in the image below.

5. Nokia Text Message Editor will open up in which you can enter the number and type your message.

6. After typing click on File – Send to send the message.

Cant Uninstall Applications via Manager?

if you can’t uninstall an application most of the time Java games using the Manager function of the phone, then do this;

1. Install F-Explorer.

2. Launch it and go-to the path/folder of the Application. I’m assuming you have install it to the MMC so the path would be something like,

E:\system\apps

and you will see lots of folders in there that is only labelled by numbers (for Java games/apps) or the name of the application. Go though them one by one. Open the text file in that folder to exactly know the name of the application in that particular folder if you dont see any icons or familiar name.

3. Then if it’s the correct folder, “move-out” of the folder, click on Options>File>Delete.

4. Then go-to the Manager to uninstall it if its still listed.

5. Reboot. (Process Done)

How to unlock the password protected memory card of your mobile phone?

1. Insert card into your phone but don’t access it through phone.

2. Run FExplorer and Open the path C:\system.

3. You will find a file called mmcstore ,rename the file mmcstore.txt

4. Copy that file(mmcstore.txt) to your pc and open that file in notepad.

5. You will find your password in that file.

For Nokia s60 1st and 2nd edition phones.

1. First Install FExplorer in your phone memory.

2. Got to drive C: , you will find a file called mmcstore

3. Send it to your pc directly and open it in notepad or rename the file.

4. At the end of the file you will find your password.

How to connect to internet on your computer by your phone using bluetooth connection on mac.?

Really simple to connect to computer to internet by your bluetooth enabled phones by following a simple step by step procedure provided your phone must have a bluetooth support.

There are two ways to connect your internet using bluetooth connection.

1. You can use the phone as a modem for a dial-up connection to the Internet service provider.

2. You can pair phone with your pc then using GPRS you can make your computer accessible to internet.

Most of the phone doesn’t have the in built feature of acting as a modem so i am going to explain the second method today.

Open Bluetooth Setup Assistant, in /Applications/Utilities.

Now pair the phone and the computer.

Select the option to Access the Internet with your phone’s data connection, as shown below.

Enter the connection setting information. If you are not sure what username, password, or other information needs to be entered, check with your mobile phone provider or your ISP for more information.

Finish the Setup Assistant, and then the phone should be ready to connect.

How to Increase Your MMC Space?

Your files in MMC are stored in multiple (disk) blocks.
So, if you format using 16K block, the space used will be 16K even though your file is just 1K.

If you buy MMC, it is usually preformatted with 16K block. Therefore a lot of space is wasted as most installed program files are usually less than 2K.

You will need a card reader to do this:-

1. Connect card reader and copy all your files in the MMC to computer disk. (Make sure you set the show all/hidden/os files to “on”)

2. Do a format of the MMC using command line “format” and use the /A=size option.

Alternative, you can use the Disk Management in Administrative Tools to format. Make sure you select FAT. For 256MB MMC, smallest block you can use is 4K, 128MB is 2K, 64Mb is 1K and 32MB is 512B.

(Note: You cannot use the phone “format MMC” to do this as the format just clear the allocation table and does not change the block size)

3. Copy back all files to MMC.

Now you will find that you will have more space.
